This section will help you to install your Target Helpdesk system.

 

What do i need to do?

 

Please follow the the following steps to install Target Helpdesk on your computer.

 

Step 1 - Installing Target Helpdesk

 

1.Download the full version of Target Helpdesk which includes SQL Server 2005 Express from the Target Helpdesk Software website (www.targethelpdesk.com). When the download has finished click on the Run button to start the setup program. The InstallShield Wizard will appear. Click Next to begin the wizard.
2.The Licence Agreement section will appear. When you have read the licence agreement select the "I accept the terms of the licence agreement" option and click on the Next button.
3.Enter your name and company name. Click on the Next button.
4.The InstallShield wizard will automatically install the program files for Target Helpdesk in the Program Files folder on the C: drive of your computer. If you would like to change this, click on the Change button and navigate to the location that you would like to use.
5.Click on the Next button to start the installation. The InstallShield wizard will begin installing the Target Helpdesk files to the directory which has been specified.
6.When the wizard has finished click on the Finish button to close the InstallShield wizard.

 

Step 2 – Activate Target Helpdesk

 

1.Click on the Target Helpdesk icon on your desktop to open the Target Helpdesk program.
2.When you open Target Helpdesk for the first time you will be prompted for a Licence Key to activate the software. Highlight the Unlock Code, right click and select Copy. Click on the Get Key button.
3.Enter the details required in the Licence Key request form and paste the Unlock Code into the field on the form. When you have completed the form you will receive an email message containing your Licence Key. Open the email message, highlight the Licence Key and select Copy.
4.In the Activation window for Target Helpdesk. Right click and select past to copy the Licence Key into the field. When you have finished click on the Activate button.

 

Step 3 – Login to Target Helpdesk for the first time

 

1.When you login to Target Helpdesk for the first time, the username and password fields will be prefilled with the Username "Demo" and the Password "Demo". This allows you to Login into Target Helpdesk to create users for the first time.

 

For security reasons, and to protect you helpdesk or service desk data, we recommend that you delete this user account when you have created a new user that has Administrator privileges.

 

 

2.If you are logging into Target Helpdesk from an additional desktop and the database is located on a server, and not the local machine, you will need to change the server name from "(local)\Target" to "(ServerName)\Target" where the server name is the IP address of the server.
