Works with Microsoft™ Vista!
Target Helpdesk Advanced Configuration Options

Additional performance tuning options are as follows and should be set in the desktop XML configuration settings file. This file is located in your installation folder and called Target Helpdesk.exe.config.

<add key="highlight_dashboard_refresh" value="false"></add>

The above key lets you know when the software is refreshing the dashboard statistics.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<add key="realtime_data_refresh" value="false"></add>

The above key prevents the desktop from looking for updates like to the likes of client contacts or client organisations. You can force a refresh by simply going into the client organisation/client contact lookup screen.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<add key="preload_grid" value="false"></add>

The above key forces the user to enter search criteria rather than Target Helpdesk prepoplulating the client orgnanisation/client contact/user grid with data.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<add key="preload_cmb_requestor" value="false"></add>

The above key stops the client selection box from being populated in the ticket screen. When this options is set to false, you can either use the long-look-up or simply enter the first series of characters of the client name and hit tab. Target Helpdesk will use the characters entered to locate a client and populate the client selection appropriately.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<add key="force_windows_gc" value="true"></add>

The above key forces the Windows Dot.Net framework garbage collector to be invoked. otherwise the barbage collector will only clean on its own accord. This really only has aesthetic appeal for the Target Helpdesk process amount of ram in use visible in the Windows Task Manager.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<add key="ticket_cache_min_size" value="1"></add>

The above key sets the ticket cache size at startup. Target Helpdesk uses a ticket caching algorithm to enhnace performance. The ticket cache is managed during the user idle time.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<add key="ticket_cache_max_size" value="4"></add>

The above key sets the maximum ticket cache size. Target Helpdesk uses a ticket caching algorithm to enhance performance. The ticket cache is managed during the user idle time

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<add key="existing_tickets_use_ticket_cache" value="true"></add>

The above key allows existing ticket to use ticket cache resources. (In most scenarios, setting this option to true in conjunction with preload_cmb_requestor set to false is wasteful of the ticket cache resource.)
